Algenio, Dugan win bronzes for PH in Math Without Borders Final Round
Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School students Xavier Algenio (Montserrat/9-Lewis) and Miggy Dugan (Montserrat/8-Ireland) proved to be among the best mathletes in the world, winning bronze awards in the Mathematics Without Borders (MWB) International Competition Final Round. Xavier competed in the competition’s Age Group 7 division, while Miggy competed in Age Group 6.
Exactly 1,234 mathletes from 17 countries (Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Estonia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malta, Philippines, North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Turkey, Uzbekistan) participated in the MWB Final Round, which was held online on August 7, 2021.
The MWB International Tournament is a competition originating in Nessebar, Bulgaria. It has three remote rounds called the Autumn Round, the Winter Round, and the Spring Round. Only medalists from at least one of these remote preliminary rounds may join the Final Round.
