Ateneo places 3rd in junior boys division of UAAP 82 swimming
With a medal haul of seven golds, two silvers, and three bronzes, Ateneo de Manila placed 3rd overall in the junior boys division of the UAAP Season 82 Swimming Championship. The team, which is composed of swimmers from Ateneo Junior High School (AJHS) and Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS), was second runner-up behind champion UST and 1st runner-up DLSU. All seven gold medals were contributed by ASHS student Wacky Santos (12-Xavier), who was also crowned back-to-back Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the junior boys division. Santos’ seven golds were for the 1500m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 200m individual medley, 800m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley, for which he also established a new UAAP boys’ record. AJHS swimmers Rafa Isip (Montserrat/10-Pacheco), Jacob Balanag (La Storta/10-Garnier), Gab de la Rosa (La Storta/10-Ferreres), and Ethan Inocencio (La Storta/10-Garnier) contributed one silver and two bronzes from three relay events, while Isip contributed another bronze for the 50m breaststroke.
