History
Beginnings
The Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) was established in 1996 as the public sector arm of the Graduate School of Business until it became an autonomous school unit of the Ateneo de Manila University in 2001. Its main purpose is to provide an institutional vehicle for the development of public servants and a forum for dialogue and partnership among government, private, non-government, and people’s organizations. It has been the School’s long term mission to work with effective and ethical public servants to build prosperous and just communities throughout the Philippines, thus, becoming a very productive institution for graduate education, training and technical assistance in the field of leadership and public service. At the inset, the School creates an environment that fosters the development of new ideas, concepts and methods. Focusing on results, it facilitates a learning process where theory and practice are joined, and where wisdom of the classroom interacts with world of policy decision and action. ASOG also draws form the intellectual resources of the various academic units of the University as well as from its many years of social apostolate and interaction with country’s decision- makers and basic sectors of society. |
