Biography: 

Ferdinand M. Casis is a public sector reform advocate with years of leadership experience in development work. A pioneer of alternative legal practice in the Philippines, he co-founded the Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panlegal (SALIGAN) in 1987. He served as Director at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) from 1993 to 1995, as consultant of its foreign-assisted projects in 1997 and 1998, and as a legal consultant from 2010 to 2013. He continues to be a member of the Board of Trustees and Council of Advisers of SALIGAN. He also currently serves as Board Secretary and Legal Officer of the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) and is also the Corporate Secretary of the Caucus of Development NGO Networks, Inc. (CODE NGO). He has been teaching since 1990.  He is also a Lecturer of the Philippine Judicial Academy and the Center for Global Best Practices. 
 
He is married to Ma. Chona O. David-Casis and father of Simon Felix Casis, now eleven years old.
