Biography:
Judge Jaime Fortunato A. Caringal graduated with a degree in Political Science from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1999. He then went on to pursue his law studies from the University of the Philippines, where he graduated in 2003. After graduation, he joined the Corporate and Special Projects Department of the Villaraza & Angangco Law Offices. He started his stint with government as a senior staff member of the Board of Trustees of the GSIS, where he worked until 2013. He then served as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications, handling the Legal Affairs Department, as well as the Private-Public Partnership Planning and Implementation Departments until March 2016, when he was appointed as Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court (Branch 278) of Mandaluyong City. Judge Caringal holds a Master of Laws in Finance Degree from the Institute of Law and Finance, Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität in Frankfurt, Germany.
Aside from his work as a jurist, Judge Caringal is also a professorial lecturer in Remedial Law at the Ateneo Law School and the University of the Philippines College of Law.
