Ateneo HS is DevCon Challenge champion!
The team from the Ateneo de Manila High School bagged first place in the high school division of the DevCon Code Challenge Cup (C-Cup) held last November 30 at Xavier School in San Juan. Topping the competition were Marco de Santos (4A), Armando Jose Castelo (4A), and Victor Antonio Ortega (4A) of the AHS' Programming Varsity.
Taking the second runnerup slot in the same competition was another Ateneo HS team, consisting of Jose Enrico Buenaflor Tiongson (4B), David Martin Alikpala Cuajunco (4N), and Dave Joseph Solito Oblena (3A).
According to the DevCon's home page (http://devcon.ph/events/devcon-code-challenge-cup-c-cup), the aim of the C-Cup is "to help spur critical thinking and highlight problem solving strategies under pressure. The contest is "a rigid algorithm programming competition mixed with the dexterity of a hackathon. It is a 6-hour competition where teams of 1, 2 or 3 programmers each will be asked to solve 10 problems using a myriad of languages of their preference, in the comforts of their trusted computer workstations."
The competition was held in the Xavier Multi-Purpose Hall, beginning at 1:00pm and concluding at 9:00 pm of the same day. Seven high schools competed in DevCon, including Xavier and Philippine Science High School.
