Blue Eaglets win over Baby Falcons, notch third straight UAAP win; video of Thirdy Ravena’s reverse dunk goes viral!

Just before noon last Sunday, July 28, Ateneo de Manila High School’s Blue Eaglets won their UAAP Season 76 round one game against Adamson’s Baby Falcons, 69-57. Playing on this page are video highlights from the game, which began at 10 am at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and ended at around 11:30 am.

In the last two minutes of the game, AHS senior Thirdy Ravena (4F 2014) scored with an impressive reverse dunk. When video of the dunk was posted on the Ateneo High School facebook page the next morning, it quickly went viral, becoming the AHS’ most viewed and most shared video ever. Exactly 24 hours after it was posted, the video had reached 235,136 facebook users, been “liked” 1,340 times, and shared 618 times. (UPDATE: As of 9am of August 6, video of Thirdy's dunk has reached 302,336 facebook users. It has been "liked"  1,646 times and shared 760 times.)

The win against Adamson marks the third consecutive win of the Eaglets. Prior to defeating the Baby Falcons, the Ateneo High School cagers beat UPIS, 85-75, on July 24. On July 21, they beat their arch rivals from De La Salle Zobel, 73-68.

Todate, the Eaglets’ win-loss record is 4-2. They’ve won against University of the East, De La Salle University, University of the Philippines, and Adamson University. They've lost to National University and Far Eastern University.

The last game of round one will pit the Blue Eaglets against University of Santo Tomas' Tiger Cubs this Saturday, August 3, at 12 noon in the Filoil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.
