Mik Balce of 8-Berchmans is Anthony Tordesillas Memorial Cup Tennis Champion!

In the afternoon of June 30, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student Manuel “Mik” Balce III of 8-Berchmans emerged as the champion of the 2nd Coach Anthony Tordesillas Memorial National Age Group Tournament, 14 under boys’ division.  En route to the finals, Mik beat Gabriel Oviedo, 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 16; Joseph Gadon 6-2, 6-2 in the quarters; and no. 2 seed Jake Martin 6-4, 7-5 in the semis. In the finals, Mik beat no. 1 seed (and fellow Atenean) Cenon Gonzales, Jr. 2-6, 6-3, 13-11.

For his first place finish, Mik received a trophy and a gift certificate from Rustan’s. The 2nd Coach Anthony Tordesillas Memorial National Age Group Tournament was held in the Manila Polo Hard Courts on June 22-23 & June 29-30.
