Ateneo HS Debaters Are Back-To-Back Champions At Econ-No-Mix 2016
Last 29 February 2016, three members of the Ateneo de Manila High School Debaters won the Econ-No-Mix Debate Competition hosted at UP Diliman. AHS A, comprised of Carlos Tiu (11-A), Ervin Grana (11-L), and Paulo Valencia (11-N) won the grand final on a unanimous decision against Quezon City High School. They successfully defended the motion, “This house believes that labor unions should have their powers suspended during times of economic crisis.”
AHS B, comprised of Red Nadela (11-A), Phil Javellana (11-H), and Matti Tan (9-A), reached the semifinal stage of the competition, before losing to eventual champion AHS A.
The win marks a successful title defense and thus, back-to-back win of the competition.Econ-No-Mix was hosted by the UP Diliman Organization of Business Economics Majors (UP OBEM).
The team’s moderator is Mrs. Fe U. De Jesus of the English Department, and was coached by Miguel Ventura and Isaac Lee for the event.
