Luigi Alcañeses wins Future Young Mayor award at City Planning Tilt held in Singapore!
Incoming Ateneo de Manila grade 11 student Luigi Alcañeses of Ateneo High School’s “Team Brilliant” won the prestigious Future Young Mayor award at the "Planning a Clean & Green Township: City Beautiful Manila" competition in Singapore last April 12, 2015. Per AHS Science faculty Emman Delocado (who coached Luigi and the rest of Team Brilliant and accompanied them to Singapore), Luigi broke the three-year streak of Hwa Chong Institute for the coveted title.
Luigi Alcañeses is one of Ateneo High School's most bemedalled speakers. During school year 2014- 2015, he won the Best Speaker award in the Ped Xing ASEAN Debate Competition and the Governor Crescini Debate Cup. He was also named champion of the Sinergia Extemporaneous Speaking Contest. Luigi was also a member of the AHS Debaters teams that won the Econ-No-Mix Debate Tournament and the Ped Xing ASEAN Debate Tournament.
Composed of Luigi, Jericho Bascos, Daniel Del Rio, Ryan Encarnacion, LA Ibarrientos, and Cisco Ortega- all from A2017- Team Brilliant placed 4th in the junior category of “Planning a Clean and Green Township: City Beautiful Manila.” The competition was held in Singapore from April 7 to 12, 2015. Team Brilliant was one of six teams representing the Philippines in the said event.
