The Ateneo de Manila High School track and field team fell 90 points short of winning the UAAP Season 78 track and field championships, bowing to perennial rival University of the East (UE) yet again. Ateneo HS' haul of five gold medals, nine silver medals and ten bronze medals was enough to secure the Blue Eaglets a first runnerup finish. Meanwhile, Palarong Pambansa 2015 gold medalist Mark Operario of  11J established a new UAAP boys pole vault record on Saturday, February 20, with a height of 3.61 meters.
