Ateneo HS Track & Field Team is over-all champion of QC Meet

After two days of intense competition among athletes from various Quezon City private and public high schools, the Ateneo de Manila High School Track & Field Team emerged as over-all champion of the Quezon City Track & Field Meet on November 5, 2015. Athletes who won gold and silver medals at the meet will advance to the NCR meet and compete for slots in the NCR Track & Field Team for Palarong Pambansa 2016.  

Here’s how Ateneo High School's athletes fared in the competition:

4x100m relay: Gold- Manu Guzman (10G) + Mark Operario (11J) + John Abarrientos (12A) + Cobbie Quintos (12J)
Long Jump: Gold- John Abarrientos (12A) 
4x400m relay: Gold- Jose Ingan (12F) + Joel Lopez (11E) + Matthew Mather (10D) + Miggy Restor (9I) 
Pole Vault: Gold (no competitor)- Mark Operario (11J)
100m dash: Gold- Manu Guzman (10G); Silver- John Abarrientos (12A)
Shot Put: Gold- Ardy Mercado (12F); Silver- Thirdy Mercado (12B)
200m dash: Gold- Manu Guzman (10G); Silver- Cobbie Quintos (12J) 
400m run: Gold- Miggy Restor (9I); Bronze- Matthew Mather (10D) 
Triple Jump: Silver- Mark Operario (11J)
1500m run: Silver- Joel Lopez (11E); Bronze- Gelo Capinpin (12F)
110m hurdles: Silver- James Magpoc (12L); Bronze- Mark Operario (11J)
High Jump: Silver- James Magpoc (12L)
800m run: Bronze- Gio Jarin (11N) 
Discus: Gold- Ardy Mercado (12F); Silver- Thirdy Mercado (12B)
400m hurdles: Bronze- Mark Operario (11J)
Javelin: Silver- JD Mercado (10D)
3000m run: Bronze- Josemaria Sison (9L)
5000m run: Bronze- Josemaria Sison (9L)

The head coach of the AHS track and field team is Trece Academia. Miko Perez is its assistant coach. Perez says that the AHS was the sole representative of the 3rd district of Quezon City because UPIS had a problem with the papers of its athletes. He adds that AHS' toughest competitors were the athletes from the 2nd and 5th districts of QC.  

The Quezon City Track & Field Meet was held at the Ultra Track Oval of the PhilSports Arena on Nov. 4 & 5, 2015.
