Ateneo's Mik Balce and DLSZ's Macky del Rosario win boys doubles title at Olivarez Tennis Tournament

Ateneo de Manila High School student Mik Balce (right) of 9C and Macky del Rosario of De La Salle Santiago Zobel were named champions of the boys doubles event of the 5th Olivarez Open Tennis championship. The tournament was held at the Olivarez Sports Center from August 15 to 31, 2014.

Mik is one of the Ateneo de Manila's rising lawn tennis stars. Last April, Mik won the 14U singles title and the 14U doubles title (with fellow Atenean Antonio Tria) at the Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age Group Series 52 Tennis Tournament.  In November 2013, Mik and fellow Atenean Cenon Gonzales Jr. (then a member of the AHS class of 1-D) were named 14 U boys doubles champions of the PCA (Philippine Columbian Association) Open tennis tournament. Last September 29 2013, Mik won the Milo Junior Tennis Cup championship in the boys 14U division. In August 2013, he won the 14U boys singles title in the Kadayawan Age Group Tennis Championship. On June 30,2013, Mik emerged as champion of the Coach Anthony Tordesillas Memorial National Age Group Tournament, 14 U boys division. From April 21-27, 2013, Mik competed in Palarong Pambansa 2013 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental as a member of the NCR Lawn Tennis Team. Paired with Macky del Rosario again, Mik won a gold medal in the lawn tennis doubles event, elementary boys category.

Mik Balce is one of Ateneo's rising lawn tennis stars, having won several titles since April 2013.
