Gonzales Brothers are both champions of Palawan-Tecnifibre Tennis Tourney

Marcen Gonzales (left) of C2015 and Cenon Gonzales Jr. of D2017  were both crowned  champions of the Palawan Pawnshop-Tecnifibre Tennis Tournament held last April 12, 2014 in Cainta, Rizal.

Ateneo de Manila High School students Marcen Gonzales of C2015 and Cenon "Bong" Gonzales Jr. of D2017 both won the championship titles in their respective age groups last Saturday, April 12, in the Palawan Pawnshop-Tecnifibre Tennis Tournament. Marcen emerged as singles champion of the 18 under boys division while younger brother Bong was named singles champion of the 16 under boys division.

Quoting The Philippine Star, "Top seed Marcen Gonzales took the 18-and-U diadem with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Andrew Joshua Cano.

"The 14-year-old (Bong) Gonzales, on the other hand, bested Chris Prulla, 6-4, 6-2, to lead the winners in the boys’ side of the event which drew over 200 junior players."

The Palawan Pawnshop regional age-group tennis tournament was presented by Tecnifibre and held at the Brookside Hills Tennis Club in Cainta, Rizal, from April 7 to 12.

Marcen and Bong Gonzales are two of the Ateneo de Manila High School’s most accomplished lawn tennis players. Between them, they won close to 30 titles nationwide from March 2013 to March 2014.
