Matthew Nieto named to FilOil Premier Cup Mythical Five
Though the Blue Eaglets finished the 2014 FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup in third place (behind eventual juniors division champion FEU and first runner-up San Beda), an Ateneo de Manila High School cager still earned a slot among the prestigious Mythical Five at the tournament’s conclusion. Blue Eaglet point guard Joseph Matthew M. Nieto of the AHS’ 12-F section received his Mythical Five trophy last June 8 during the award ceremony at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City. Matthew, as he’s known to friends and fans, has been playing for the Ateneo de Manila’s varsity basketball teams since he was in grade school. He is also one of three AHS Blue Eaglets in the Pilipinas Youth Team that will compete in the 2014 FIBA Under 17 World Championship in Dubai this August. This marks the first time that a Philippine U17 Youth Team has made it to FIBA World.
