Mik Balce wins Two Titles at Palawan-Tecnifibre Tennis Tournament

Mik Balce (right) and Marcus del Rosario (left) won first and second place, respectively, at the Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age Group Series 52 Tennis Tournament. Marcus was Mik’s doubles partner at Palarong Pambansa 2013, where they won a gold medal for the NCR Lawn Tennis Team.Incoming Ateneo de Manila grade 9 student Manuel “Mik” Balce III won the 14U singles title AND the 14U doubles title at the Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age Group Series 52 Tennis Tournament on April 12, 2014.  Second seed Mik beat no. 1 Marcus del Rosario, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2, for the 14 and under singles crown. (Marcus del Rosario was Mik’s doubles partner at the 2013 Palarong Pambansa, where they won a gold medal for the NCR Lawn Tennis Team.) In addition to this feat, Mik and fellow AJHS student Antonio Tria also won the 14U doubles title at the same tournament, beating Marcus del Rosario of Letran and Gelo Aparte of De La Salle Zobel, 8-6.

The Palawan Pawnshop regional age-group tennis tournament was presented by Tecnifibre and held at the Brookside Hills Tennis Club in Cainta, Rizal, from April 7 to 12.
 
Mik graduated from AJHS section 8-Berchmans in March 2014 and will begin grade 9 at the AHS in June 2014.
