4-A's Lorenzo Quiogue ranks 5th out of 3500 students in Phil. Math Olympiad

Last Saturday, January 26, Ateneo de Manila High School senior Lorenzo Gabriel D. Quiogue was ranked 5th among 3,500 students who competed in the Philippine Mathematical Olympiad held at the De La Salle University campus in Manila. The feat qualified Lorenzo to be among the 21 finalists who will train this summer to represent the Philippines in the International Mathematical Olympiad to be held in Colombia in July. 

Lorenzo Quiogue is one of the most bemedalled students in his batch. Two weeks ago, he was one of only two students in the Ateneo High School who got straight A's in their report cards, not to mention straight A's in conduct and deportment as well. For this, Quiogue and the other student were given the Magis award for the second term of school year 2012-2013. 

Last October, he was also recognized for earning the "high distinction"  citation for his performance in the  Australian Math Competition for the third consecutive year. "High Distinction" refers to those who scored above 98% in the competition. Last schoolyear and the year before, Lorenzo also received "high distinction" marks for the 2010 and 2011 editions of the Australian Math Competition.

Aside from being one of the Ateneo High School's Mathletes, Lorenzo is also the editor-in-chief of Hilites, the AHS' official student news publication.
