AHS Class of 2013 Valedictorian Lorenzo Quiogue is National Champion of Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge!
After besting regional representatives from all over the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila High School Class of 2013 valedictorian Lorenzo Gabriel D. Quiogue of NCR-B was declared national champion of the 2013 Metrobank-MTAP(Math Teachers Association of the Philippines)-DepEd Math Challenge high school individual division. The competition was concluded in the afternoon of Saturday, April 13, at Metrobank Plaza in Makati. Jaydee N. Lucero of NCR-A’s Camarin High School finished second while Rachel G. Rojo of Region IX’s Zamboanga Chong Hua High School finished third.
For bagging first place in the high school individual category, Lorenzo received a gold medal and a P50,000 cash prize.
In addition to being named valedictorian of the AHS Class of 2013, Lorenzo (“LQ” to his friends) also received the subject area awards for Mathematics, English, and Science at his graduation last March 24. He also received the Mercury Drug Award for Science and graduated First Honors. Lorenzo is currently vying for one of six slots to represent the Philippines at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) to be held in Colombia in July 2013.
