Ateneo HS junior Marcen Gonzales is ranked # 2 among RP boys aged 16U in tennis
From March 1 to May 23, Ateneo de Manila High School junior Marcen Angelo Gonzales of 3C won an astonishing total of 11 lawn tennis championships in various tournaments held all over the Philippines.
The details of those 11 wins are as follows:
1. Olivarez-PHILTA Age Group (Group 1), 16 under boys singles champion. The tournament was held at the Olivarez Tennis Center in Paranaque City from March 1 to 17, 2013
2. Leg 7 Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age Group (Group 2), 16 under boys singles champion. The tournament was held in Cainta, Rizal from March 29 to April 2013.
3. Juntaphil Barcelona Cup (Group 2), 16 under boys singles champion. The event was held in Burnham Park, Baguio City from April 1-7, 2013.
4. Juntaphil Barcelona Cup (Group 2), 18 under boys singles champion. The event was held at Burnham Park in Baguio City from April 1 - 7, 2013
5. Angeles City Age Group (Group 2), 16 under boys singles champion. It was held in Angeles City from April 8-14, 2013
6. Henry Lee Age Group (Group 2), 16 under boys singles champion. This was held at Manila Polo Club, Makati City from April 15 to 21, 2013
7. Henry Lee Age Group (Group 2), 18 under boys doubles champion (Marcen's partner was Jonah Cano). The tournament held at Manila Polo Club in Makati City from April 15-21, 2013
8. Milo-Technifibre Age Group (Group 2), 16 under boys singles champion. The event was held at Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City from April 22-27, 2013
9. Milo-Technifibre Age Group (Group 2), 18 under boys doubles champion (partner: Ino Canlas). The tournament held at Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City from April 22- 27, 2013
10. First Gen Metro Age Group (Group 1), 16 under boys singles champion. This was held held at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Court in Manila from May 6-12, 2013
11. Leg 9 - Smart-Head Junior Satellite Circuit (Group 2), 16 under boys singles champion. This tournament was held in the Baguio Tennis Courts in Burnham Park, Baguio City from May 19-23, 2013.
As of April 30, 2013, Marcen is ranked #2 among all tennis players in the Philippines in the 16 under boys age group by the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA). In the 18 under boys category, Marcen is ranked #11.
