Ateneo faculty members receive 2016 NAST awards

Three faculty members from Ateneo’s School of Science and Engineering (SOSE) were recently given prestigious awards by the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).
 
Assistant Professor from the Department of Environmental Science (ES) Dr. Ian A. Navarrete received the 2016 Outstanding Young Scientist (OYS) – Soil Science award.

Mr. Ronald Allan L. Cruz, an instructor from the Department of Biology, authored the Outstanding Book for 2016 entitled “THE COSMIC WILD: Biology of Science Fiction.” It was published by the Ateneo University Press.

 

Finally, Department of Environmental Science Chair Dr. Severino G. Salmo III received the award for Outstanding Scientific Paper. His paper was entitled “An individual-based model of long-term forest growth and carbon sequestration in planted mangroves under salinity and inundation stresses.” 

Last year, Dr. Salmo was also named one of 2 awardees for the NAST Environmental Science Awards. 

The awarding ceremonies will be held on July 14, 2016 at the Manila Hotel.
