Building Sustainability through Education
August 16, 2019
Security Bank has been a long-time partner of the Loyola Schools in helping fund education to financially challenged but deserving students. The Security Bank Foundation formalized this partnership with the Ateneo in 2009, and has helped three scholars graduate. This year marks its 10th year as a benefactor of the Ateneo College Scholarship Program (ACSP), and this was commemorated by a Donation Turnover and Signing Ceremony.
Last August 14 at the Security Bank main office in Makati City, a P2M check donation was turned over to the Ateneo de Manila University for the Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr. Endowment, an Ateneo Scholarship Foundation (ASF) fundraising initiative. The Security Bank Foundation also renewed its support for college scholarships with a P100,000 grant to a scholar for SY 2019-20, whom they will support until graduation. Three more scholars will be added the next three school years.

Representing the Security Bank Foundation were Mr. Sanjiv Vohra, President and CEO of Security Bank Corporation, and Mr. Rafael F. Simpao, Jr., Chairman of Security Bank Foundation, Inc. Also present at the event were Fr.Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ, Ateneo de Manila University President, Dr. Cecilio K. Pedro, ASF Chairman, Mr. Simon Paterno, ASF Vice-chairman, Mr. Vic Lim, ASF Board Member, and Ms. Julia Cristina A. Morata, Assistant. to the Director for Scholarships of the Loyola Schools.

According to Mr. Vohra, it is the mission of Security Bank to enrich lives, empower businesses, and build communities – and a common thread to accomplish this is through education. It is the mission of both Ateneo de Manila University and the Security Bank Foundation, Inc. to make quality education accessible, to bring out the potential and hone the talents of bright individuals who may not have the resources to do so. Mr. Simpao closed the ceremony by saying that, “it is our hope, and more importantly, it is our prayer that through our various initiatives in the area of education, the Security Bank Family and the Ateneo de Manila University would create a brighter tomorrow for the future generations of Filipinos.”
