ALLC

The Ateneo Language Center was founded by Fr. John McCarron, S.J. in the 1950s in response to the need for speech improvement in English of students in the Ateneo Graduate School. The courses were also popular with non-degree students who were interested in improving their oral English.

As a pioneering center for the advancement of language and communication, ALLC has produced competent, critically aware, and self-reflexive English language users who come from all over the world from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and languages.

For over four decades, ALLC has continued to provide training programs targeting the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  It offers three programs, namely: Intensive English Language Program (IELP), Academic English Program (AEP), and English in the Professions Program (EPP). These programs address the English language communication needs of those in academe, in business and industry, and in communities at large.
