Master of Arts in English Language and Literature Teaching

The Master of Arts in English Language and Literature Teaching (MA ELLT) degree is designed for teachers of English language and literature in the secondary and tertiary levels. The regular program is for full-time and part-time graduate students who can take courses during the regular semesters.
 
The MA ELLT degree is also offered as a summer program (SUMAP) for graduate students who can do course work only during summer.

  • ENGL 201: Theories of Language and Language Learning
  • ENGL 202: Fundamentals of ESL Research
  • ENGL 203: Evaluation Procedures in Language and Literature Teaching
  • ENGL 204: Theories and Practices of Writing
  • ENGL 205: Principles and Practices of Language Teaching
  • ENGL 206: Principles and Practices of Literature Teaching
  • ENGL 207: Reading Literature
  • ENGL 208: Sociolinguistics
  • ENGL 298: ELLT Reflective Practice (for non-thesis only)
 
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
Thesis Option: a student who opts for this may finish after successfully completing the following requirements:
  • 24 units of required courses
  • 6 units of elective courses
  • Comprehensive examinations
  • Thesis-writing and oral defense thereof
Non-Thesis Option: a student who opts for this may finish after successfully completing the following requirements:
  • 27 units of required courses
  • 9 units of elective courses
  • Comprehensive examinations
