Electronics, Computer, and Communications Engineering
The Department of ECCE aims to develop graduates who will be frontrunners in the rapidly changing fields of electronics, biomedical engineering, communications, energy and environment. The curriculum emphasizes the development of the problem solving skills of a modern Filipino engineer. The curriculum focuses on how new technologies affect the livelihood and standard of living of Filipinos, reflecting the values of an Ateneo education.
The ECCE Department provides a science-based engineering program characterized by a multi-disciplinary approach to education in science and mathematics, technical skills, and expertise with courses in the humanities, social sciences, and personal enrichment. The Department participates in the inter-disciplinary research thrusts throughout the Ateneo.
Since research today is a highly collaborative process, the Department is an active research and development partner with partners like universities, government and industry. The major themes of research are: Smart Energy Systems, Environmental Systems Solutions, Biomedical Engineering, Wireless Logistics, Microelectronics, and Information Systems. The ECCE Faculty encourage students to understand the entrepreneurial possibilities of their thesis work through classes focusing on Innovation and Technology. Graduate students enter an exciting program that is project focused, starting early with thesis project selection along with targeted course work that deepens their understanding and ability to do high quality research.
