Atenean wins 46th UP Math Wizard contest

The Mathematics Department congratulates Kyle Patrick Dulay (1 BS CS) for emerging as the champion in the 46th Annual Nationwide Search for the Math Wizard hosted by the UP Mathematics Club.  The contest was held last February 23, 2019 at the Institute of Mathematics and the NISMED Auditorium in UP Diliman.    
 
More than 50 of the top college students from all over the country participated in the contest.  Ateneo sent a total of 13 contestants, of which 8 were among the 18 who qualified to the Pre-Final Round. 
 
The school’s contestants were accompanied by Dr. Christian Paul Chan Shio, faculty member of the Mathematics Department. 
 
The UP Math Wizard contest is one of the country’s most prestigious mathematics competitions in the collegiate level.  The questions in the contest covers topics in Algebra (Linear, Vector, and Analytic), Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics and Probability, Logic, Number Theory, Elementary Calculus (Differential and Integral), and their applications.
