Math Majors Win 32nd Annual Stat-Is-Eeks Contest

Congratulations to the team of Aldrich Ellis Asuncion (4 BS CS / BS MA), Marjorie Chan (4 BS AMF / AB EC-H ‘18), and Lianna Zion Lofranco (4 BS AMF) for winning first place in the 32nd Annual Stat-is-Eeks hosted by the UP Statistical Society.  The contest was held last Sept. 29, 2018 at the PCED Auditorium in UP Diliman.  They bested 23 other teams from all around the country to emerge victorious in the contest. 

 
Another Ateneo team, composed of John Renz Alvarado (3 BS AMF), Christian Kenneth Collado (3 BS AMF), and Immanuel Gabriel Sin (4 BS MA / BS ME ’18) also won third place in the same event.
 
Both teams were coached by Dr. Christian Paul Chan Shio, faculty member of the Department of Mathematics.  
 
Stat-Is-Eeks is a nationwide interuniversity Statistics quiz show for non-Statistics majors.  The contest covers topics in basic statistics which include Descriptive Statistics, Probability Theory, Inferential Statistics, Applied Statistical Methodologies, and the Philippine Statistical System.
