Student Organization
The Ateneo Association of European Studies Students (Ateneo AEuSS) is an organization that provides an avenue for students who share an interest in the diverse ways that the Philippines and Europe interact. Through its various projects, AEuSS hones its members to become globally competitive by immersing them in various perspectives pertinent to European Studies— diplomacy, politics, culture, business and the economy.
Ateneo AEuSS is the home organization of European Studies students and, with unity in diversity as one of its key principles, non-EU majors are also welcomed to join. The organization provides a platform for members to develop a critical understanding of Europe, the European Union and how these regional movements interact with the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia, especially along the lines of International Relations, Business and Economics. It is hoped that what the organization pursues is able to empower future leaders of thought and industry.
With a variety of global issues occurring daily, AEuSS provides a unique European perspective, rooted in the Philippine locale, in understanding the world.
Vision:
The Association of European Studies Students envisions itself as the premiere organization in the Loyola Schools Community that offers quality development and training in line with the values of the European Union and Philippine culture-rootedness skilled in the fields of business, politics, and culture to form a community of capable Ateneans in the goal of uplifting the Philippine condition and propelling the nation into a competitive and formidable international player.
Mission:
The Association of European Studies Students forms its members through the provision of developmental avenues for leadership focused on the promotion of responsible citizenship, critical analysis on European political and economic perspectives and the broadening of world vision and its relation to the Philippine context.
FLAGSHIP PROJECTS
Ateneo Model United Nations (AMUN)
A two day event that invites students from numerous universities and high schools to participate in a discouse about global issues and construct concrete action plans for these dilemmas. The ensuing discourse happens through the simulation of the systems, procedures, and values of the United Nations.
Institutional Visit
An event that aims to broaden the knowledge of students in international and national institutions that are immersed in the intricacies of the EU-Philippine relations. It does so by providing the opportunity to visit certain companies and institutions with the intent of learning about their involvement and contribution to the relationship of the European Union and the Philippines.
Career / Foreign Service Talk
A talk, given to members of the organization, to help them get a glimpse of professional life after the Ateneo, through the eyes of the alumni of the European Studies Program as well as experts in different fields of occupation. A special emphasis is given to the field of Foreign Service, one of the main careers chosen by students of the European Studies Program.
