CHED Declares Psychology and Sociology as Centers of Excellence (COE)

In two separate memorandum orders issued on 20 December 2012 and released recently, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) designated the Ateneo de Manila University as a Center of Excellence (COE) in Psychology and in Sociology.
 
With this designation of excellence, the Department of Psychology and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the School of Social Sciences are expected to “serve as potent catalysts for world class scholarship, best practices, innovative curriculum, research and extension and professional development” in Psychology and Sociology.
 
These departments may avail of financial assistance from CHED “on a project proposal basis geared towards the development and improvement of the program.”

 
The Department of Psychology and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology first received their respective designation as CHED COE in 1999. The current designation is valid until 31 May 2014.
