Hi 170 - Overview of Philippine History from Primary Sources (a new course)
(under the banner of the Department of History)
This new course is a broad survey of Philippine political, social, economic, and cultural history through the use of primary sources.
Students are exposed to the study of history through the analysis of such primary sources as firsthand accounts
by actual participants or eyewitnesses, diaries, letters, and newspaper reports
as well as non-written primary sources such as photographs, art, video, and film.
Through the careful examination of these sources, students gain experience in the process of historical interpretation and criticism.
