With the rise of K-pop all over the world, we will look at the influences that have driven C-pop trends in the last fifteen years.  MandoPop has established itself in Asia at the start of the ’80s and has been fast-growing throughout the years. This talk aims to discuss and determine the factors that have affected the rise and pause of C-pop and how K-pop has gone global before it.

We will be looking at artists and shows that have tried to infuse eastern and western influences but lacked a factor for their acts to go global. What does it mean to go global? And do we Filipino-Chinese have a chance at creating our own  C-pop acts? And eventually, conquer the world?
