Abad to talk on teaching strategies as School of Social Sciences launches school-level talks
A lecture on social science pedagogy opens the School of Social Science School-Level Talk series on Wednesday, October 14, 4:30 PM at the Eugenio Lopez Center, 3/F Social Science Building.
The presentation is jointly organized by the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Department of Communication.
Dr. Ricardo Abad takes the stage in this inaugural event with a presentation entitled “To Our Own Selves Be True: Teaching Strategies for the Social Sciences.” What, he asks, do the social sciences preach? What outcomes can be expected from students based on what the social sciences preach? What teaching strategies will help produce those outcomes?
Combining biography, pedagogical research, and communication arts, Dr. Abad identifies seven teaching strategies suitable for the social science classroom.
An open forum follows the presentation. Cocktails will then be served at the Social Science Foyer.
All faculty members of the School of Social Sciences are invited to attend Dr. Abad’s talk. To reserve a slot, please call the Office of the Dean at local 5202 (Mara Sevilla) or 5203 (Tess Carlos) or email dean.soss@ateneo.edu on or before Friday, October 9, 2015.
