Dr Jennifer Oreta in Talks on the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro
After the historic signing of the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro last October, the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) resumed formal talks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Monday, 12 November 2012, with the Technical Working Groups from both sides crafting the annexes on (a) power sharing, (b) wealth sharing, and (c) normalization. The annexes will form part of the GPH-MILF Comprehensive Peace Agreement both parties expect to forge before the year’s end.
The members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on Normalization are National Security Council Deputy Director General and Undersecretary Zenaida Brosas, GPH panel senior military adviser Brig. Gen. Leo Cresente Ferrer, and Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) consultant Dr Jennifer Oreta, of the Political Science Department. Dr Oreta and other panel members are fleshing out details of the agreement using a "common language on many of the remaining issues." The most recent meeting in Kuala Lumpur was held 11 to 14 December 2012.
