PoS holds public lecture on El Salvador experience against mining
QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES - The Department of Political Science recently held a public lecture last 26 July 2017 on the recent ways by which countries and communities around the world are combatting irresponsible mining. Using the El Salvadorian case, the speakers, Prof. Robin Broad (American University, Washington, DC) and Prof. John Cavanagh (Institute for Policy Studies, Washington, DC) talked about how El Salvador became the first country to ban metals mining and how other countries, especially Philippines, can make a similar response. The talk was held at the Faber Hall, Ateneo de Manila University, and was co-organized with the Asian Peacebuilders Scholarship Program (APS).
