History and Politics through Song: Diwa ng EDSA

The Departments of History and Political Science, both of the School of Social Sciences, and the Ateneo Muscians Pool cosponsored the lecture-concert "Diwa ng EDSA : Awit at Istorya" on 21 February 2013 at the Leong Hall auditorium. Guest artists included Noel Cabangon, Pol Galang, Rody Vera, and Jess Santiago who talked about the context in which they wrote and sang their music during the Martial Law years and the EDSA revolution that followed. Songs from the Martial Law era, such as "Sta. Filomena" and the more contemporary "Ako ay Mabuting Pilipino" were performed during the concert. The concert was capped with a communal singing of "Bayan Ko."
