A Benefactor’s Annual Meet and Greet
Last September 26, fourteen sophomore scholars from the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University met their benefactor at the UT Foundation Inc. (UTFI) office in Makati City for the first time. Present at the event were Mr. Roger Leo A. Cariño, Chairman and President of UTFI, Dr. Jose Maria Edito K. Tirol, Director of the Office of Admission and Aid of the Loyola Schools, and their respective teams. UT Foundation has been a longstanding benefactor of the Loyola Schools, having already graduated two batches of 15 scholars each. The first batch finished in 2014, and the second in 2018.
UT foundation is now supporting its third batch of young and bright individuals, coming from a varied range of courses. Mr. Cariño and his team at UTFI, alongside the Ateneo College Scholarship Program, have joined hands in forwarding their aligned goals of ensuring that a student’s financial background should not be a factor in hindering them from receiving quality education.
It was a very light and entertaining afternoon, where the students were given the chance to introduce themselves, establishing a warm relationship that is sure to last even beyond their years in the Ateneo. Once the students were able to share a bit about their background, they continued to express their thanks by preparing a short performance and sang their own rendition of Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”. They hoped to get the message that as others have helped them get to where they are right now, they too aim to pay this gift forward by being men and women for others.
