And the Magis Hero Award goes to…
No one is spared from the ripple effect brought on by the COVID-19 virus, with businesses and schools shutting down. In these difficult times, providing quality education has been marred by problems but educators and formators at Ateneo de Manila University have risen to the challenge. To express gratitude and appreciation for all their hard work and dedication, all Ateneo educators received the Magis Hero Award at the Magis Alumni Homecoming held last 5 December 2020.
The Magis Hero Award is given to “every Ateneo de Manila educator who underwent the Adaptive Design for Learning (ADL) in order to level up only as educators, but also as learners,” read the citation.
The University’s teachers and formators not only rose to a most unexpected challenge, but also embraced every opportunity to widen their competence as 21st-century Ignatian educators when they completed the ADL training. The ADL was the university's carefully discerned response to the unexpected need to pivot Ateneo de Manila’s learning and teaching to the online environment. Instead of simply leaving teachers to their own devices, this professional certificate course was designed and conducted by the Ateneo SALT Institute (Institute for the Science and Art of Learning and Teaching) for the entire university, as well as the network of Jesuit schools and universities in the Philippines.

The Magis Alumni Homecoming was organized by Ateneo High School Batch 1995.
