EducFrontiers 2018 opens registration
Organized by the Asia-Pacific Interactive Jesuit Education Consortium (API-JEC) and the Ateneo de Manila Institute of the Science and Art of Learning (Ateneo SALT), the International Conference on Educational Frontiers 2018 will revolve around the theme, “Education in the Age of Fake News and A.I.” The conference seeks to answer questions about new frontiers in education, like the kind of learners today, how millennials think, intercultural education, and project-based learning.
The conference, happening on October 3-5, 2018, has three strands—Frontiers in Education, dealing with Education Policy, Research and Practice; Frontiers in Schools, which is concerned with Educational Leadership and School Improvement; and Frontiers in the Classroom, which focuses on Innovations in Learning and Teaching.
Three distinguished speakers will be headlining the conference, sharing their insights as well as the results of their respective research.
Gino Borromeo, Chief Strategy Officer of McCann Worldgroup Philippines, will share about the context of students and youth on the first day of the conference, October 3

On October 4, Christine Halse, PhD, Chair Professor of Intercultural Education and Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Students) in the Faculty of Education and Human Development of the Education University of Hong Kong, will speak on intercultural education for social justice and community cohesion.

On October 5, Andrew Miller, Instructional Coach of the Shanghai American School, will give a masterclass on project-based learning—helping participants understand the difference between traditional projects and true student-centered Project-based Learning and guiding them in designing a PBL unit that they can implement in the classroom. This third day will conclude with a World Teacher’s Day Celebration.

Breakout sessions will succeed the keynote addresses, and will include various topics such as Catholic Religious Education in the Post-Truth Philippines: Identifying Roots and Wings, Media Deconstruction of Martial Law Chapters in Selected Philippine History Textbooks: A Model for Developing Critical Thinking in Secondary Education, An Action Research on Integrating an Online Carbon Footprint Calculator and Plickers in an Undergraduate Science and Society Course, and Ignatian Pedagogy in Timor Leste.
