An exchange student leads the winners in the Ateneo Website Photocontest "Faces, Places and Spaces"
Four budding photographers emerged as winners in the Ateneo website photocontest “Faces, Places and Spaces” sponsored by Canon and Smart last month. The winners include exchange student, Alycia Bobak, Ateneo Grade School staff member Donald Castillo, Ateneo High School staff member William Baclao and Loyola Schools staff member Anna Acejas-Asis.
Bobak won the “Spaces” category for her insightful photograph of the silhouette of a fellow student standing in front of the Church of the Gesù. She said this was taken on her iPhone. For this she will receive a Canon Powershot A330 IS.

Castillo won a special category for his artistic shot of the cross atop the Church of the Gesù taken against the late afternoon sun. Fujifilm Finepix digital camera. He will receive a Nokia Lumia 710.

Baclao’s winning picture for the Faces category was a chance shot of a group of High School students on an outreach program in Montalban. For this he used a Nikon D60. He will be receiving a Canon Ixus 115 H5 camera.

The winning picture of Asis in the Places category was of the statue of St. Ignatius beside the entrance to the Manila Observatory and taken at 11PM with her Nikon D5000. She will also get a Canon Powershot A330 IS.

The winning pictures, together with the other almost 400 shots, will be used as part of the photocomponent of the new Ateneo website to be launched next month.
