Ateneo de Manila is HKIMO PH heat round’s #1 most outstanding school; Jimbo Bernardo top scores senior secondary division
Thanks to the combined efforts of the 19 mathletes from AGS, AJHS, and ASHS who won a total of 11 golds, five silvers, and three bronzes in the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) Philippines Heat Round 2021, Ateneo de Manila University was ranked as the heat round’s #1 Most Outstanding School.
Of these 19 mathletes, 12 were from the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School, namely, recent graduates Aaron Cacas (12-Navarro, salutatorian of the Class of 2021), Marion De Leon (12-Pro), and Kelgie Ong (12-Pantalia); and incoming grade 12 students Deanne Algenio (11-Borja), Jimbo Bernardo (11-San Vitores), Kyle Xander Co (11-Perez), Marin De Leon (11-Realino), Yahna Santos (11-Mayer), Marvin Tan (11-Perez), Marcus Tornea (11-Wright), Mikha Velez (11-Wright), and Harvey Allen Ylanan (11-Torres).
The gold award recipients were led by Jimbo Bernardo, who was the senior secondary division's top-scorer. Also winning gold were Deanne Algenio, Kyle Xander Co, Marion De Leon, Marin De Leon, Kelgie Ong, and Marvin Tan. Securing silver awards were Aaron Cacas, Marcus Tornea, Mikha Velez, and Harvey Allen Ylanan. Bagging a bronze award was Yahna Santos.
All ASHS athletes competed in the senior secondary division of the competition, which was held online on May 3, 2021.
