Ateneo de Manila Senior High School mathletes Deanne Algenio (11-Borja), Nikki Chan (12-Oldcorne), Kyle Xander Co (11-Perez), Troy Tabujara (12-Pantalia), Kelgie Ong (12-Pantalia), and Mikha Velez (11-Wright) won four gold awards and two silver awards for the Philippines in the 2021 Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) Finals, which were held online using the EKLAVVYA platform on April 3, 2021. Competing in the senior secondary group division, Deanne, Nikki, Kyle and Troy each won the gold award while Kelgie and Mikha each received the silver award.

The TIMO is among the most respected competitions in the world. Unlike other Mathematical Olympiads, TIMO provides its contestants with an evaluation report that shows their strengths and weaknesses in such topics as Logical Thinking, Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry and Combinatorics, thus allowing them to develop their own learning strategies in the future.

This year’s participating countries were Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. The medalists were feted during the virtual awarding ceremony which was posted on the Olympiad Champion YouTube channel on May 16, 2021.
