Apollo Eleven is the first ever co-ed ASHS Prom
Blinding lights, good music, and the celebration of everything new is what awaited students last March 18 in the first ever co-ed prom Apollo Eleven. The highly anticipated event was held at the Ateneo High School covered courts from 6 pm to 11 pm.
More than being the first prom ever to be co-ed, what made Apollo Eleven significant was the fact that it signified change, variety, and of achievement. It was an event to sum up the school year that had just ended.
In the most awaited event, students who were all prepped up already started arriving as early as 5 pm for registration. The program began with a short ‘landing on the moon’ skit by Richard Canlas from 11-Azevedo and Keisha Pandapatan from 11-Hurtado, which followed the prom’s theme, followed by some words from ASHS Principal Dr. Carmela Oracion.
The contestants for prom king and queen also had their moment. They all had the opportunity to ramp up the stage. However, they were narrowed down to the top 4 and the audience was asked to vote. The top 4 came from the classes of Berchmans, Goto, Pignatelli, and Pongrancz.
Also notable was the music. Artists like Sud and Reese Lansangan were present together with some performers from ASHS. The dance floor was crowded as the students gathered to dance or to just simply watch the performers.
As the night drew to an end, special awards were given before the announcement for the prom king and queen, which concluded the night.
In the end, Kristian Tiu and Jean Romano from 11-Pignatelli won the crown, and Gabriel Campos and Trelecia Santos from 11-Berchmans won as prom prince and princess.
The prom king and queen then went up the stage for their first dance as prom royalty.
In the words of many students and teachers alike, it was a magical night for an inaugural promenade.
