ASHS mathletes Algenio, Bernardo & Julio are Sipnayan 2021 champs!
Composed of Ateneo de Manila Senior High School mathletes Deanne Algenio (12-Beyzym), Jimbo Bernardo (12-Pro), and Vanessa Julio (12-Walpole), Team 11 emerged as senior high school division champion of Sipnayan 2021: Into The Realms, which was held online on October 23, 2021.
Organized by the Ateneo Mathematical Society in 1998, Sipnayan is an annual mathematics competition that provides a venue for students from different schools to showcase their knowledge and competence in mathematics with the aim of promoting appreciation and excellence in the subject. Sipnayan 2021: Into the Realms marked the first time that the competition was held online (on the Canvas, Zoom and Discord applications).
Participating schools included Agusan del Sur National High School, Jubilee Christian Academy, Mapua University, Maranatha Christian Academy of Caloocan, MGC New Life Christian Academy, Philippine Cultural College-Caloocan, Philippine Science High School-Bicol Region, Philippine Science High School-CAR Campus, Philippine Science High School-Main Campus, Saint Jude Catholic School, Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School, Tupi National High School, Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science, and Xavier School San Juan.
Among the topics covered in the competition were trigonometry, combinatorics, logic, geometry, and number theory.
