Campanilla, de Leon and Rivera each win silver for PH at IMOYA

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo Senior High School mathletes Marion de Leon (STEM/11-San Vitores), Ninna Rivera (STEM/11-Perez), and Sean Campanilla (STEM/11-Tsuji) each won a silver medal in the individual category of the International Math Open for Young Achievers (IMOYA) held recently in Singapore. De Leon was also a member of the team that won gold medals and the champion trophy in the team competition,  while Campanilla’s team was awarded 1st runner up in the team competition.  

Marion, Ninna and Sean are all transferees who spent their junior high school years in other schools. Marion came from Valenzuela City School of Mathematics and Science, Ninna came from St. Paul College Pasig while Sean came from Lourdes School Quezon City. They have all been highly recommended by the Mathematics Development Authority of the Philippines (MathDAP) for their impressive performance in the Mathematical Olympiad Summer
Training Program and Young Mathematicians’ In-House Intensive Training Program, and are  members of the Philippine team in captioned competitions.

The IMOYA contestants came from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Macau, Malaysia, the  Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. The 2019 IMOYA was held at Parkroyal on Beach Road in Singapore from September 14 – 16, 2019.
