Cassidy Tan is overall champ of Asia Math Olympiad

Representing the Philippines, five Ateneo de Manila Senior High School mathletes won medal awards in the senior secondary level of the Asia International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO), which was held online on August 1, 2021. Leading the ASHS medalists was Cassidy Tan (11-Moscoso), who swept the competition and emerged as the trophy-winning overall champion of AIMO’s senior secondary level. Following him were Deanne Algenio (12-Beyzym) with a gold, Enzo Chan (11-Tsuji) with a silver, and Kyle Xander Co (12-Oldcorne) and Mary June San Jose (12-Xavier), each with a bronze.

Filipino mathletes won a total of 21 golds, 51 silvers and 73 bronzes at the 2021 AIMO, which was described by the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG) Philippines as “one of this year’s most intense international math competitions.”
