Dion Ong to rep PH in Informatics Olympiad in Azerbaijan
Ateneo Senior High School mathlete Dion Ong of STEM/12-Pro has been officially chosen as one of the four Philippine representatives to the 2019 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from August 4-11, 2019. The news was announced on the website of National Olympiad in Informatics Philippines (https://noi.ph/news/) during the weekend of weekend of July 5-7, 2019. The IOI is touted as the world’s most difficult and prestigious computer programming competition among secondary level students. The Philippine delegation was chosen among the top 10 students who participated in the National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) Philippines held last April 6-7, 2019, following six weeks of intensive training in backtracking, algorithms, dynamic programming, graph theory, and data structures.
Before the IOI in August, Dion will first represent the Philippines in the 60th edition of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) to be held in Bath, United Kingdom, from July 11-22, 2019. The IMO is the largest and most prestigious of all the international olympiads, with mathletes from over a hundred countries participating.
