Jimbo Bernardo is 1st place winner of Int’l Math Olympiad
Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Senior High School’s Jimbo Bernardo (12-Pro) and Deanne Algenio (12-Beyzym) proved to be among the best mathletes in the world, winning gold and bronze- respectively- in the Mathematics Without Borders (MWB) International Competition Final Round. In addition, Jimbo was named 1st Place Winner of Age Group 9, the same division that Deanne competed in.
Exactly 1,234 mathletes from 17 countries (Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Estonia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malta, Philippines, North Macedonia, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Turkey, Uzbekistan) participated in the MWB Final Round, which was held online on August 7, 2021.
The MWB International Tournament is a competition originating in Nessebar, Bulgaria. It has three remote rounds called the Autumn Round, the Winter Round, and the Spring Round. Only medalists from at least one of these remote preliminary rounds may join the Final Round.
