PH’s Macarasig & Tan win 5th place in World Math Team Championship

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo Senior High School students Alison Chloe Tan (11-San Vitores) and Ralph Joshua Macarasig (12-Ogilvie) won 5th Place in the Advanced Division of the 8th World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) held in Bangkok, Thailand from November 10-12, 2017. Alison and Ralph were part of the six-member NCR Advanced Team 1 whose four other members were from other NCR schools. NCR Advanced Team 1 ranked 5th Place for their impressive aggregate scores in the WMTC's three contests: team, relay and individual competitions.

A total of 1194 participants from 21 countries participated in the 2017 WMTC.

Alison and Ralph earned the right to represent the Philippines in a qualifying round held last September 28, 2017 at Makati Hope Christian School, where their team placed 3rd.
