Ylanan wins gold and is ranked 2nd in PH round of Siam Science Olympics

Ateneo de Manila Senior High School students Harvey Allen Ylanan (12-Sullivan) and Yanni Co (11-San Vitores) won gold and bronze, respectively, in the Science competition of the recent Siam International Math and Science Olympics (SIMSO) Philippines National Round. In addition, Harvey Allen was ranked 2nd in the Grade 11-12 division. Yanni competed in the Grade 10 division.

Based in the Kingdom of Thailand, SIMSO aims to discover champions from all over the globe who are passionate about numbers, logic, and science. The SIMSO Science Philippines national round was held online on October 3, 2021.

As national round medalists, Harvey Allen and Yanni will advance to the SIMSO Final Round, which is tentatively scheduled to be held in February 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand. Participating countries in the SIMSO Final Round will include Afghanistan, Algeria, Australia, Brazil, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, France, Georgia, Ghana, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Thailand.
