ASHS holds first ever research symposium
One of the new subjects offered in the Ateneo Senior High School this year is Research. The aim of this course is to equip and train our students early on to conceptualize and conduct research. The project was also able to develop among the students a sense of nationalism and love for the Filipino language, as they used their native tongue in writing and presenting their papers. By the end of the semester, selected research groups coming from the ABM, GA, HUMSS, and STEM Strands were chosen to present their research work in the very 1st Ateneo Senior High School Research Symposium, held last March 21, 2017, at the SHS Black Box Theater. The event was well attended and served as a perfect opportunity to provide our senior high students a valuable experience of presenting their work to the school community, and also to a distinguished panel of research experts. Our research panel was composed of members of the academe coming from Ateneo and also from two other distinguished universities in the country. The panel members are, Dr. Michael Arthus G. Muega, from the College of Education, University of the Philippines, Mr. Jun Angelo M. Sunglao, from the Psychology Department of Ateneo de Manila University, and Mr. John Lennard M. Alcantara, from the Marketing Department of De La Salle University. Each panelist gave comments and valuable suggestions to our students to help them improve their research papers in the future.
The event was organized by the Senior High School Research Team composed of Mr. Erwine Dela Paz, Mr. Louie Melosantos, Mrs. Rose Capadosa and Mrs. Rayjane Del Campo, and is headed by our very own APAA, Mrs. Jennifer A. Concepcion, who gave the opening remarks. The program was also graced by the presence of selected members of Dulaang Sibol, who serenaded the audience with inspirational songs of praise during the intermission.
