Lim, Macarasig and Puache are champions of the Aghamon Research Conference
A team composed of Ateneo Senior High School grade 12 students emerged as overall champions of the Aghamon 2018 Interschool Research Conference held in St. Theresa’s College last March 3, 2018. Gio Lim, Ralph Macarasig & Martin Puache- all from the class of 12-Ogilvie- won the competition after presenting their CSIP-Dulot research paper entitled, “Utilization of Itik Feathers as Aggregate in Concrete Construction Materials.” The paper was their response to their recent immersion in Cardona, Rizal, where they saw the problem the community faced in disposing of its Itik feathers.
The Ateneo Senior High School CSIP (Christian Service and Involvement Program) is justifiably proud of Lim, Macarasig, and Puache for presenting a paper that was as cognitive as it was formative. According to CSIP adviser Erick Salonga, this weaving together of formation and academics is the Ateneo’s edge as a school. “There is formation in academics,” says Salonga, “and Gio, Ralph, and Martin are a testament to it.”
